Western Tomoko have taken out the title in the inaugural SIFF Just Play U-14 National Championship after seeing off a spirited challenge from Isabel Frigates in the final at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara, Solomon Islands on Friday.

Two fairly evenly matched sides through normal time and extra time, it was the grit, determination and calmness under pressure which allowed Western Tomoko to prevail 3-2 in the deciding penalty-shootout.

The SIFF Just Play U-14 National Championship featured 14 girls teams, representing nine different Solomon Islands provinces and seven Telekom S-League clubs.

Held during the school holidays, the week-long 7-a-side tournament was organised by the SIFF Competition and Technical departments, with support from the Social Responsibility team, which provided WASH and ENDviolence awareness sessions as well as providing the tournament balls and prizes.

In addition to offering a competitive environment for developing their football skills and earning match experience, the tournament was also an opportunity for the SIFF Technical department to carry-out scouting as they look to prepare for future regional youth tournaments.

In addition to the championship title, a number of individual awards were handed out following the final.
