Tonga club Veitongo FC have given fans a fantastic Christmas gift, winning the 2020 Challenge Cup with a 4-0 victory over Longolongo in this week’s final at Teufaiva Stadium.

The two sides were evenly matched on paper, both boasting former and current national team players, however Veitongo proved the stronger side across the 90 minutes.

In the U-16 Heilala Manongi Challenge Cup final Veitongo weren’t quite so fortunate. Following a hard fought encounter the teams were inseparable and it was Lotoha’apai who came up trumps in the penalty shoot.

Finally, the U-14 Challenge Cup final was one for the history books as Nukuhetulu took on Lavengatonga. Both teams began their journey in football less than five years ago, coming through the Just Play Programme and TFA Grassroots Programme.

Lavengatonga were crowned victorious over their opponents, earning their first-ever Challenge Cup title.
