Three crucial points were all White River Community High School needed to secure the title of U-18 Girls High School Football League 2021 champions.
With seven wins and one draw, the side’s 22 points saw them beat out Marara CHS and Panatina CHS with 19 and 18 points respectively.
White River were equally dominant in the individual awards, with Salome Masi picking up Player of the League, and Nina Forau the Golden Glove award.
Hannah Ali of Marara CHS won the Golden Boot award courtesy of her seven goal tally, while Global Harvest Academy School was awarded Fairest Team.
The competition was held at SIPA Field in Kukum, Honiara over eight weeks and featured nine teams vying for the title.
Antoinette Miniti, Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Women’s Development Officer, said the U-18 league was created to provide the a tier in the competition structure below the Solrais Women’s Premier League.
“This competition will also be used to select additional players for the national U-19 women’s team in preparation for the OFC U-19 Women’s Championship scheduled for April 2022,” Miniti said.
